Sustainable

Providing energy efficient deployment, operation and future expansion

The challenges of traditional communication network deployments

  • Cost intensive capex and opex investment required
  • Labour intensive co-ordination and delivery of separate electrical and fibre optic networks
  • Siloed networks constrains adoption of new business models

DDN transforms communication network deployments

  • Emphatic design combines data and power in a single integrated solution
  • Delivers a CAPEX and OPEX saving of 40-50% and 10-15% respectively
  • Sustainable and eco-friendly technology solution

DDN SOLUTION

KEY FEATURES

  • Unique transmission and termination of fibre and power in a single hybrid cable using Digital Electricity™
  • Optimised design and form factor of headend and IP68 enclosure
  • Limited energy utility requirements to power multiple end points
  • Provision of up to 2kW of power up to 2km from primary power
  • Energy saving solution with less voltage loss on smaller copper cables and less AC-DC conversions
  • Centralised power back-up capability
  • Power consumption monitoring and metering capability for each end point
  • Quick deployment with a ‘save to touch’ and ‘plug and play’ hybrid power-fibre cable network

How it works

1. The DDN Headend converts conventional AC or DC power into Digital Electricity™ (DE) and combines this with a data fibre cable into a single hybrid cable for transmission. The headend is typically situated adjacent to a suitable input power source that is in an MER/Comms room or street cabinet.

2. The hybrid cable of electricity and data can transmit up to 2kW of power and up to 2km from the headend.

3. The DDN Enclosure converts the incoming DE into conventional AC or DC electricity as required and integrates splice and passive components to facilitate endpoint connections to the communication network. Low voltage power cables are used to power the small cells near the enclosure as required and data transmission is done via fibre cables from the enclosure.
